Protective Coatings come in many forms and ease of use. Waxes and sealants are easiest to apply but how lower lifespans 3 months – 1 year. Ceramics have longer lifespans 1 year to 4+ years but are more time consuming and difficult to apply. Ceramics also require less maintenance.
Hydrophobic Properties
The main purpose of coatings is to provide a high gloss, protective layer to shield paint from UV rays, dirt and other contaminants from imbedding into or etching paint causing damage. The Hydrophobic propeties (beading effect) of coatings makes the paint surface self cleaning when wet to shed away a majority of dirt and keep contaminants from sticking.
